Local Thursday Bike Rides

On Thursdays, there are typical bike rides that the local residents take part in weekly and are open to the public.  All of these listed Thursday rides are for high paced rides.

  • 6:00am at Hains Point, 1100 Ohio Dr SW, Washington, DC, there is the Hammerfest, a single file high speed pace line around a loop for one hour. Although it isn’t competitive, it’s a challenge to see if you can hang on to the group as each lap increases in speed.
  • 12:00pm at Hains Point, 1100 Ohio Dr SW, Washington, DC, is the famous Fight Club Ride. A high-speed ride around the loop until 1:00pm. This ride typically averages between 25-30 mph and is not for the beginner rider.
  • 6:00pm from the Southern Area Aquatics & Recreation Complex, 13601 Missouri Ave, Brandywine, MD, GII hosts the Trash Talking Thursday Ride. Although a portion of the riders treat this as a typical group ride with an average moving speed of 14 mph+, another portion treats it as an informal road race with a podium to honor the winners at the end.
