Frequently Asked Questions

What is the “Bike-Off” that’s going on Friday?

Think of field day back when you were in school.  The bike-off consists of friendly competitions that will include a track stand competition, tire changing competition, sprint competition (men’s and women’s race separately), and a relay race (teams of 4 can sign up). Registered people will be invited to sign up for Bike-off activities close to the event date.

I’m only coming out on Saturday, are there different prices?

The Backyard Boogie registration covers the whole weekend, which gives registrants the option to pick and choose what they want to do, or do everything. Included in the price are all of the activities listed, plus a meal on Friday (vegan options available), educational activities, giveaways, prizes, fully supported rest stops during the Boogie Ride, marked roads, live entertainment at the Backyard Lawn Party, SAG for all rides on Friday and Saturday, and more.

I’m racing on Sunday so I don’t plan on doing the Boogie Ride…but I still want to come!

Once a racer signs up to race in Sunday’s Backyard Boogie Race, they will receive an email for a discount code to purchase a Backyard Boogie Event ticket.  We don’t want the racers to miss out on the fun-packed weekend.  The name on the event ticket must match the name on the race entry and will be verified during the event check in.

What is the Peloton Parley that’s happening on Friday?

The Peloton Parley is where we interview leaders in the cycling community on the things that cyclists want to know. Peloton Parley panel names to be announced soon.

What if I have a problem during the bicycle ride and cannot finish?

The rides throughout the weekend include SAG (Support and Gear).  We will have several SAG vehicles follow along the cyclists throughout the course to help out if there is an issue preventing cyclists from finishing.  Responsible cyclists are expected to know how to and be prepared to change their own tires if needed.

Will there be other cyclists that I can ride with?

This year we will begin the rides as a mass group according to the routes that you choose.  At the start time for your ride, everyone that is riding your route will be with you so you can find others that you can ride with.  There will be SAG vehicles riding the course to make sure no cyclists are left behind.

Are kids invited to this year’s event?

Yes! We want to make sure we help grow the next generation of cyclists. We will have activities that focus on kids from Kindergarten to 12 years old.  Friday’s event will include clinics for them as well as a short ride.  Saturday we will have a family ride that will accommodate kids on a closed course.  Finally, on Sunday  we will have a short kids ride during the race (age 8 and under).  Kids 9 and up who want to race can register at Bikereg and give it a try.

What if it rains?
This event is happening rain or shine.  Should we encounter inclement weather, we will do our best to modify events such as reordering activities or shifting start times and/or routes.

After last year’s event I still wanted to hang out each day, are there any plans this year?

Stay on the lookout for after party activities for each day as well as things to do if you are in town early. We will recommend restaurants and other hot spots and activities to hit up.  Check in on this page for updates.

There will be updates to this page for hotel information, t-shirt sales, and other things to do while in town.
Stay tuned for more to come!
